Okay I will start off with last Friday the 23rd when we celebrated Kevin's Birthday. I cooked an awesome lasagna for my sweetie for his 26th birthday and had a couple of his friends over. We cook or go out for everyone's favorite meals every year for every birthday.. it's what my family does. This year instead of carrot cake he wanted 4 layer pie.. and man that stuff is awesome.
Got up early Saturday to go pick up my quilt... I have been eying this thing for well over two months and every day at the farmer's market I go and pet it.. so I finally got the money to go buy it and bring it home and it's absolutely gorgeous! I was running around most the day... I came back from the market to get William and put the roast on for that night's dinner when my parent's come over.
In the mean time, while the roast was cooking, I took the kids to the Peinhardt Farm Day . We got here at 2:30 because I forget it ended at 3pm... so we rushed around like made chickens with our heads cut off to look at everything. William loved the tractors and got to pet all of the farm animals and even milk the fake cow. I thoroughly enjoyed the natural wool dying , and the cotton gin. We purchased a little wooden car and some real corn meal from a grits meal working there.
Next year I will be sure to get there early in the morning and spend the whole day there with the kidlets. It's such a great thing.. it's so sad that people aren't taking up the old time crafts that really require such wonderful craftsmanship and skill.
We came back home to a fully cooked dinner and got to spend the night with my parent's which I have really enjoyed. I love having them over. It's really a highlight to my weekend.
Sunday, we went to go pick out our pumpkins at the not quite so local but 30 minutes down the road pumpkin patch. Which doesn't really grow their own pumpkins it's just kind of a setup and I don't plan on going next year... because it didn't work out so great this year and I am not paying 8 dollars a person to ride a tractor where they laid out pumpkins the night before. However, the kids had fun (besides the hour long wait in line) and it yielded some good pictures.
William was acting the way a 3 year old acts when his nap time is interrupted ... so was his dad lol . At any rate I got to wear my new green wrap and wander around a patch where pumpkins were... William got to get a pumpkin and go play in the hay..Mealie got to bumble around .. toddling about happily. So.. All was good in the end.
With our pumpkins in tow we headed to Grandpa's so we could go grab a bite to eat. And then the week started again...
We've started our home school/Pre-school which is quite interesting. It's mostly consisting of scissor skills, counting, shapes, ABC's , coloring.. I am getting more things together as we go. Fall is really an awesome time for pre-school crafts and with Thanksgiving coming up it's going to be really fun.
Anyways... HALLOWEEN!!
We started out the day by me heading to the market like I do every Saturday.. however this was the end of the season and I am horribly sad. I did get a couple of iris bulbs so that cheered me up. I went back to get William and take him to the Fall Festival at one of the local churches and he enjoyed it.
We grabbed a bite to eat and headed back to the house to carve pumpkins. He wanted a cat and I carved Mealie a moon with a star and a cloud. They turned out really well.. and I have yet to check on the seeds in the oven.. I probably should do that.
Amelia was dressed up like a Luna Moth... She was so cute and enjoyed being taken around everywhere. For the most part she was wrapped up in our wrap mei tai and was content.
William was a train engineer.. He didn't want to go at first but once he realized that Amelia would be getting all the candy he hopped in the car and we went to the first place, which was the army depot and got a big handful of candy. Then we went to a trunk or treat where we met up with Luke,Jess, and Orion. We circled the block and parted ways.. then me and the kidlets went on to the next trunk or treat before heading back home where my mom ( grandma) was waiting with homemade chili, cornbread, and candy for the kids.
The kids have crashed in the sugar induced haze.. and I am finally getting a quiet moment to write all of this wonderful stuff down....
Pics in the next post...
:)
